A Special BookTalk Presentation AND Book Fair Total

Moby Shenobi: Ninja in the Kitchen was one of the many great books available at the Book Fair. It was also one of our BookTalk skits.  As our Student Crew members didn't get a chance to present it live, they recorded this special presentation for you.  Stay Tuned to the end for a Special Book Fair Announcement ...

The Prettiest Pinkalicious Tree!

Thank you to all the students who created beautiful book-inspired ornaments for the Pinkalicious Christmas tree.  It's now a very pretty Pinkalicious tree indeed!

It was so difficult to choose a winner of the ornament contest because everyone did such a great job but here we go:

The winning ornament was the Gold Fish in the Fish Bowl from Dr. Seuss' "The Cat in the Hat" made by Munira (grade 4).

Congratulations, Munira!

The Runner-Up ornaments were characters from the Mo Willems books: Pigeon, Gerald the Elephant, and Piggy brought in by Nathan in Junior Kindergarten.

And check out all these fantastic ornaments!

... and a Thank You to Andreas in grade 3 for the pretty, glittery ornaments he added to the tree just the other day (I will add them here as soon as I can snap a picture).

As the Book Fair Rides Off Into the Sunset ...

We packed up the Book Fair after school yesterday and Scholastic picked it up today.  We are all very happy that St. Jude's first ever Book Fair was such a wonderful success!  - a HUGE Thank You to everyone who helped it be so from our Parent Volunteers who were an invaluable help, to our Student Crew, to the students and their families for supporting us by buying from the Book Fair, to my wonderful colleagues who showed great support and flexibility around the Book Fair (and to my husband who has listened to me talk everything Book Fair for the last few weeks).  THANK YOU!

I look forward to sharing pictures and moments from the Book Fair with you on the blog here (after I go through the 1,600+ our Student Crew PhotoJournalists took during the fair ... and a nap!)

I am just finishing up the "paperwork" and will be announcing our grand total on Monday.
Stay Tuned!
